The fencing started out well but quickly went downhill. I was having a rough time and not mentally staying focused. I finished in 10th place; not a good place to start, but I knew I still had four other events to make up ground. My swim was great and I cut off three seconds from my personal best which I hadn't swam since Feburary! I had gotten 3rd place in the
swim which bumped me up to 7th place. For the riding I drew Steele who is a great horse and we only had one rail that was knocked down. The course was small and had tight turns so I was happy with only one rail. Going into the combined event I was in 5th place and still had a lot of ground to make up to earn a spot on the podium. I shot great and suprisingly had no pain in my shin during the run. On my last round of shooting I passed two athletes and had one last 1,000m to run. I was worried that I wouldn't be in as good of shape since I had been injured for the past month but I pushed it and finished in 3rd, which meant that I would have a spot on the World Championship team! For the junior division I came in 2nd which qualified me for Junior Worlds i
n November as well!

Since all of the events were in one location and so close to Denver my family and friends were able to come watch and support me which was great and they had never seen a pentathlon competition before. Some of the events were also posted on a live web stream which was great to have other friends and family be able to see parts of the competition.
