After Italy I went straight back into training, but was able to spend Easter with my family which was very nice. I spent most of my time training at home which proved to be very difficult with taking classes and driving to all my different practices; between fencing, swimming, running shooting and finding time to ride my horse, Atlantis, almost everyday. I was still dealing with jet lag and it took a while to adjust back to Colorado time.
At the end of May I got an offer for my horse who had been up for sale for about 4 months. I had one last week or two with him and then he was off to his new home with the new owner. I had Atlantis for 7 years and it was a big change and hard not to have my horse anymore, but it allowed me to focus more on my training in the other four sports. I hadn’t realized how much time I had spent riding and taking care of him but it taught me a ton about time management and responsibility.
My next competition, NORCECA, North and South America Championships, in Guadalajara, Mexico would be at the end of June. I was able to stay at the Olympic Training Center for about two weeks to train for the competition; the Argentina team was also training with us which was always good to have more athletes at the OTC.
