The competition in Guatemala came up quick and I was still working on getting back to training 100% but decided to go to get some more experience and since the trip wouldn’t be too far.
The competition went very well. I had a new personal best swim and almost a clear round in the riding. The horse I rode was a little lazy and needed a lot of leg so I had a few time faults but had no rails knocked down! I started the combined event in 8th place and had great shooting which allowed me to run into 4th place. I was very happy with the result and coming back from my injury I was not expecting to do as well as I did.
The day after the competition I was able to go to the town of Antigua with a few of my team mates. It was about an hour long bus ride to get there but since it was the week before Easter there was a parade and a lot going on in the city. There were tons of people all over the city and tons of little shops and people making and selling all kinds of fruits, candy, and food. It was a long day but definitely an amazing experience!
Soon after returning home I found out that I would be able
to compete in two weeks at the World Cup #4 in Rostov, Russia since one of the athletes
would not be competing. It would be another quick turnaround but I would also
have a chance to stay in Europe and do a training camp in Poland for two weeks
until World Championships in Rome, Italy.
