Surgery update

The surgery was about a week after Nationals and came up really quick! I was definitely ready to have the procedure done and be on my way to recovery. I stayed in the hospital for one night after the surgery. When I talked to my surgeon in the morning, he said that everything went great and they found what was called a wave or blister, which can often times be more painful than a torn labrum, as well as the tear in my labrum. He was able to use my labrum to repair everything and was very happy with the results and positive about my recovery. I was in a lot of pain the first few days but things were getting better every day. I had my first physical therapy session three days after surgery and was given very minimal exercises that I could do. I also got clearance to get on a stationary bike and begin with no resistance at a slow pace. I was excited to be able to get moving a bit more with rehab, but I would still be on crutches for about 3 to 4 weeks to keep the weight bearing to 30%. I also had a good crew to help me with my recovery, Colt!
I had been wanting to get a tattoo for a while, but was never able to because I was always swimming and hadn't had a period of time where I would be out of the pool for long enough. A bible verse that I had originally chosen when I was confirmed at Abiding Hope was Philippians 3:14 I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength. I felt that with my surgery and all the hardships I had pushed through in life that getting Strength tattooed on my wrist would be a great reminder of this verse and that I can push through things knowing that God is by my side and guiding me on the right path.
I am now a week post surgery.  I am feeling much better and having less pain. Every day I am able to do more and feel that my range of motion improves.  I know that I still have a long road ahead of me, but looking toward the Olympics in Rio 2016 is keeping my hopes and motivation up to keep getting better. Thanks to everyone who has supported me along this journey and towards my dreams! I am truly blessed to have so many people that have helped me get to where I am today and to have had such a great season despite my injuries. I am looking forward to the seasons to come and what the future has in store for me!
