World Cup #1 Palm Springs, CA

The first world Cup was in February, this was the first World Cup in 9 years in the U.S. so I was very excited to represent my country at home. I have been training hard at home and going up to the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs periodically to prepare and get ready. There was a camp at the Olympic Training Center and athletes from Russia, Latvia, Germany, Brazil, United Kingdom, Guatemala, and Ukraine came to train before the World Cup. It was a great experience and helped a ton having a lot of athletes to train with as well as getting to know more international athletes.

Competing in my first World Cup was definitely a great experience. There were so many amazing athletes. I was nervous going and competing against some of the best pentathletes in the world, but I was happy to get the experience in the U.S. with so much support from the coaches, my parents, and other teammates. I cut three seconds off in my swim which was very exciting! I did well in the other events and finished in 22nd place in the semi-final group. The top 18 athletes from the two semifinal groups would qualify for the finals which would be a day later. I didn’t make the cut for finals but being able to get the experience was great. Two of the U.S. women and one U.S. male made it to finals it was fun to be out there to support them as well. I was the 5th placing U.S. woman in the World Cup which meant that I made the National team and would be on the rotation for the other World Cups this season!
